Why Adopt a Boxer?

From the minute they are born to their senior years, boxers remain playful and full of fun; they have a zest for life like no other breed. They are the most entertaining of breeds and will never fail to make you smile.

So why adopt a Boxer? It’s simple; money will buy you a good puppy but it won’t buy the wag of a Thistle Boxer Rescue dog’s tail.

At Thistle Boxer Rescue, our passion for this breed is what gives us the drive and the determination to find all the dogs in our care the very best home where they can live out their lives in the safe knowledge that they will be loved and cared for.

Each of our adopted families’ lives has been enriched beyond measure because of the love of our dogs. As well as having a new family member you will have the feeling that you did something special by giving a boxer a second chance and the life they were always meant to have.

How to Adopt

At Thistle Boxer Rescue we have an adoption procedure in place for rehoming our rescue dogs. This process helps us to match you with a dog that will suit both you and your family and make sure that the adoption is successful.

We ask for all adoption enquiries to be made via an online application form. This gives us the basic information we need to assess your suitability to rehome one of our dogs. However, if you would prefer to speak to someone before applying, please feel free to call us. If your home seems like a good match for one of our dogs, one of our trusted volunteers will carry out a home check at a mutually convenient time to gather more information and to answer your questions. By no means are they there to judge you or your home; they are just there to make sure you find a dog that is at home in your family and will get all the care and attention they need.

After a successful home check, and once we have found a dog that we think matches you, we will arrange for you to visit the dog. All family members including any other dogs must to attend so that everyone can meet the dog and make sure they are the right fit for your family. At the meeting, the volunteer will take you on a walk so that you can get to know the dog.

This also gives you the opportunity to ask the volunteer a bit more about the dog as well as any other questions you may have. If all goes well you will be able to take the dog home with you that day. We ask that the adoption fee is paid on the day and that the adoption agreements are signed before taking the dog home.

The adoption agreement specifies the terms and conditions of adopting a dog and every adopter must agree and sign the documents. Following the adoption, we will keep in contact with you and are always available to give advice throughout your dog’s lifetime.

We offer support and advice to all adopters and if you have any questions or concerns at any time you are welcome to e-mail us or give us a call.

We ask that all potential adopters fill in our online Adoption Form, which asks for some information about you and your household. Once we have received the form, we will give you a call to talk over your application. If you are interested in adopting one of our boxers and would like to discuss this in more detail, please give us a call.
